On Friday, Chamber prosecutor Frida Noldin says that there are many indications that the arson attack was aimed at a company located in the property.
– Since the fire was started inside the company’s premises, we believe that there is a possibility that the fire is aimed at this company, she says.
Examining thread connection
The boy, who does not belong in Jönköping County, is suspected of aggravated arson. The police have also started work to investigate whether there may be a connection to organized crime.
Frida Noldin says that there are circumstances that suggest that the 16-year-old was not the only perpetrator, but that she cannot go deeper into that.
16 people, including five children, had to be taken to hospital after the fire in the apartment building in central Jönköping that broke out on the evening of January 22. No one was seriously injured.
Examining his clothes
The boy’s clothes have been sent to the National Forensic Center to investigate whether there is any trace of flammable liquid, which is said to have been used when the fire was started.
The public prosecutor’s office and the police are now working together to map how the boy moved in connection with the fire, including through material from various surveillance cameras.
The 16-year-old still denies any crime, but has said he was in the area in connection with the house fire.
