Hill jumper Jenny Rautionaho has gotten into great shape after his wild fall. At the World Championships in Planica, he was 13th in the Suurmäki race. At the World Championships, he was talked about as the Finnish sensation of the Games.

During the weekend of Holmenkollen, Rautionaho’s result curve got better step by step. In Saturday’s race, he jumped to 12th place. On Sunday, the ranking improved by one more place.

The competition was won by Slovenia Ema Klinec before Austria Chiara Kreuzeria. Norwegian Anna Odine Ström was third.

Rautionaho stretched 119.5 meters in both rounds.

– It was a balanced jump. It was a bit of a dent in the teeth from the descent of the first round, which lost a few points. In the top 15, however, so not bad, Rautionaho said.

Performance reliability is important in terms of self-confidence.

– Knows that one’s own basic level is enough.

“It’s a bit jarring”

Rautionaho opened its season in Wisla handsomely in ninth place. It is the best ranking of Rautionaho’s career in the World Cup.

In February, Rautionaho had an ominous crash in Willingen, Germany, but eventually recovered to WC fitness. A good mood raises expectations for the future.

According to the athlete, there are still many things that separate him from the top jumpers in the world.

– This is an outdoor sport. If the other one gets half a meter upwind, it already makes a difference.

Rautionaho’s season continues next in Lillehammer. His goal for the rest of the season is to qualify for the flying hill jumping competition in Vikersund.

Lillehammer has usually been a challenging place for Rautionaho.

– Now we are on a good path. Let’s see how Lillehammer goes. It has always been difficult there. It’s a little crazy how it’s going. The profile of the mountain and the old-fashioned ice slope are challenging.

– Let’s still hope that the good jumping will continue in Lillehammer as well.
