The family’s appeal: “Sweden must not forget Adriana”

On Wednesday, the verdict will be handed down against the three men charged with the murder of twelve-year-old Adriana in Norsborg in the summer of 2020. The prosecutor has requested that the men, who all deny the crime, be sentenced to life imprisonment. – No one should forget Adriana, says the family in Efter fem. It was on August 2, 2020 that twelve-year-old Adriana was shot to death when automatic fire was fired from a car outside a fast food restaurant in Norsborg in southern Stockholm. Another seven people were at the scene were at the scene at the time. Two of the seven people, both men in their 20s, are believed to have been the real targets but escaped unharmed. They have later been sentenced to prison for involvement in an attempted murder that is described as revenge for the shooting in Norsborg. Describes it as a fist in the stomach In the After Five studio sits a visibly upset mother who says it’s the first time she’s heard how the news coverage sounded in the media the day after her daughter’s death. – I’m completely taken, it’s my little girl. I was 19 when I had her. I discovered life with her, now I will do it without her. She was so curious about life, now it was taken away from her. The day after the murder, both the mother and the godmother describe as if someone punched them in the stomach. – It’s been over two years, we still haven’t gotten our breath back. The world was black and white, all colors disappeared. Adriana is alive with me, with her help the color is coming back. Adriana left behind two younger siblings. Her little brother, who was only three years old when Adriana died, asked for his big sister for a long time. It is still difficult to comfort her little sister some evenings, she was very close to Adriana, says Susanne. – Something as joyful as McDonalds is not for my children. Every McDonald’s sign we pass is a lump in our stomach. “Love is stronger than hate” On Wednesday, the verdict will be announced at the Södertörn District Court. During the entire trial, Adriana’s mother Susanne Yakes and godmother Isabella Leikas sat in the courtroom. A process which, according to both of them, has been stressful. But the love for Adriana means that they can sit straight and not look down at the table. – Many have asked us about hate. Of course you are angry, of course you feel anger. But love is stronger than hate. The love for Adriana has made us hate so little. The grief after Adriana means the mother has taught her something. To look up. – We humans run around in our hamster wheel. We don’t stop and see the person. You don’t know what people around you are wearing. It’s just sad that you have to wake up earlier. The appeal to the Swedish people: Don’t forget her. Isabella says looking into the eyes of a mother who has just buried her child is indescribable, and she doesn’t want to look into the eyes of more friends who have lost their child. – Nobody should forget Adriana. Sweden must not forget Adriana. This must not happen in Sweden again. It has to end now. Adriana gets to be this symbol even though we don’t want her to. But now it is as it is. She’s supposed to be the end of this. This has to turn around.
