The Russian singles skating victory was taken by the Russians Anna Shtsherbakova and Aleksandra Trusova before Kaori Sakamoto of Japan. Russian skater Kamila Valijeva was fourth.

Russian skater Kamila Valijeva has finished fourth in the women’s solo skating at the Beijing Olympics. Valijeva, who led the short program, scored 141.93 points in the evening’s free program, but the total balance of 224.09 was not enough for the medals.

The Russians Anna Shtsherbakova (255.95) and Aleksandra Trusova (251.73) took a double win before Japan Kaori Sakamoto (233.13).

Valijeva has been in the middle of a doping court. Three different heart drugs have been reported in a Russian doping sample.

Finland Jenni Saarinen entered the freestyle as the last competitor, skated a total of 153.04 and finished 25th.
