The Euroleague fines Llull for contempt for referees

The Euroleague has announced two sanctions counted after the last week of competition. The two belong to the same match: Estrella Roja and Real Madrid met last Tuesday, March 8 at the Aleksandar Nikolic Hall in Belgrade in a match postponed from matchday 20 and the heat of such a match caused situations that have now been penalized by the disciplinary committee of the competition.

Sergio Llull has been fined 3,500 euros for “acts that represented a lack of respect towards the referees”. The penalty is included in section 27.2.b of the disciplinary code of the tournament. The local club, for its part, must pay 6,000 euros for the throwing, by the public, of objects onto the playing field. This second sanction comes from article 29.2.h of the aforementioned code.

Madrid lost that game 65-62 in Serbia and that was their turning point after having lost four in a row in the Euroleague and others in the League and Cup. Two days after Estrella’s stumble came the victory in Madrid against Milan and, already on Sunday, they beat Hereda San Pablo Burgos at home. In the old Sala Pionir, the Menorcan Sergio Llull was the leading scorer of Madrid with 20 points.
