The police were called to the hospital just before 10.30pm on Sunday evening when several masked people relieved the man while he was on a hospital visit. The visit was supervised by staff from the Swedish Migration Agency’s detention center, but no one is said to have been injured in connection with the incident.
The persons are suspected of having left the hospital in a vehicle and a suspect was later arrested during a vehicle check near Jönåker in Nyköping municipality. Some distance away, east of Stavsjö, the police located an abandoned vehicle suspected of being connected to the crime.
The incident is being investigated as promoting escape.
