The day after Valborg: They empty the Ekoparken – of 12,000 liters of urine

The last of April meant, as usual, a big folk festival where thousands of celebrants filled Ekonomikumparken. A large mountain of rubbish was left behind on Wednesday morning – and 12,000 liters of urine to be emptied from the latrines.

– Every day we pee out so much nutrition that it is just wasted. By collecting the urine from the Walborg celebrants, we can “dry” and convert the nutrients into fertilizer pellets that can be used in agriculture, says Nicola Parfitt who is the project manager.

In the clip: “You have to watch out for the golden shower” – says the professor who is “hosing” 12,000 liters of pee in the Ekoparken.
