It has been almost a year since El Salvador, as the first country in the world, made bitcoin an official currency. But the crypto-currency has fallen sharply in value, and with it, unrest is growing among the people.

– I charge in bitcoin, but I have to change quickly so it does not fall in value, says tattoo artist Yoel Bojorque.

When El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele introduced the currency, the country received a great deal of international attention and the country’s residents received a premium if they registered.

– Those millions could have been used for something else, the tattoo artist explains.

But not everyone is as skeptical of the president’s unique traits.

– The president stands for change! Says a guy trying to withdraw money.
