the crossing points reopen the truce still holds

The truce still holds between Israel and the Gaza Strip, even if the interpretation that is made of the ceasefire agreement varies from one camp to another. This Monday morning, after several postponements, the barriers were lifted and the goods were finally able to enter the besieged Palestinian territory.

For the Gazans, after almost a week of hermetic closure, the most important thing is the reopening of the crossings, reports our correspondent in Jerusalem, Michael Paul. The tank trucks have been supplying the power station in the Palestinian enclave again since Monday morning, the tanks of which were dry.

Return to normal also on the Israeli side in the kibbutzim and other border villages which had been partly emptied of their inhabitants. Passive defense is gradually lifting the restrictions that had been imposed in this sector.

A broken truce

But if the truce seems to hold at this stage, Israel announces that it has no intention of releasing the Islamic Jihad leaders arrested in the West Bank. The leadership of the organization in Gaza had announced that this measure was included in the ceasefire agreement. This morning and last night, the Israeli army made new arrests in the Jenin area. Also in the West Bank, the military demolished the houses of the perpetrators of the ax attack in the Israeli town of Elad on 5 May.
