It is Gällivare municipality that now writes on its website that the county administrative board stands behind Gällivare municipality’s and the residents’ view that eastern Malmberget can no longer be seen as a development area but on the contrary is a decommissioning area.
Gällivare municipality quotes the authority “The County Administrative Board perceives that what was initially presented as a development area in Malmberget is becoming more and more like a decommissioning area with the challenges it entails. Recreation areas disappear or decrease, playgrounds / playgrounds disappear, there are poorer opportunities for connection to the internet compared to other residents in Gällivare. The County Administrative Board states that much of the infrastructure is strongly affected in the area, which means that the area at present cannot be perceived as a well-functioning and pleasant part of society. ”
