The companies must restore the E6 after a landslide

Cowi will work with geotechnical investigations, planning and drawing up construction documents. The construction of the road will be managed by Peab.

The procurements have been made with the help of an exception in the procurement legislation for urgent situations.

“If we hadn’t had that opportunity, the process would have taken significantly longer. For the Swedish Transport Administration, the restoration of E6 is of the highest priority,” says project manager Daniel Svensson in a press release.

The landslide occurred on the night of September 23. It was clear early on that the damage to the road was extensive and that the restoration would take time.

According to new calculations from the technology consulting company WSP, the landslide could cost society between SEK 1.6 and 3.3 billion when private persons and goods are forced to move around, reports P4 Gothenburg.

However, what is behind the landslide is still unclear. The incident is being investigated by the National Accident Commission and, in parallel, a preliminary investigation is also underway regarding suspected gross public negligence at the prosecutor’s office in Uddevalla.
