The Central Election Commission rejected opposition politician Boris Nadezhdins entry

Russia’s Central Election Commission has declared 9,147 of the signatures collected for Nadezhdin to be invalid, reports Novaya Gazeta.

A veteran politician Boris Nadezhdin may not participate in the Russian presidential election in March.

Nadezhdin said today, Thursday, that the Central Election Commission of Russia has refused to register her as a candidate. According to the Central Election Commission, errors have been found in the signature lists supporting him.

Russia’s Central Election Commission has declared 9,147 of the signatures collected for Nadezhdin to be invalid, reports Novaya Gazeta. This provided election officials with 104,734 signatures, leaving 95,587. That’s short of the required 100,000 signatures.

Mediazona, on the other hand, says that 11 signatures made in the names of dead people would have been found among the signatures. After an inspection by the Ministry of the Interior, another 858 signatures were found to be invalid.

Signatures had to be collected from dozens of different regions of Russia, a maximum of 2,500 signatories were counted from each region.

I won’t give up, says Nadeždin

Nadezhdin said on her Telegram channel that she disagrees with the Central Election Commission’s decision and plans to challenge it in Russia’s Supreme Court.

– Participating in this year’s presidential election is the most important political decision of my life. I won’t give up, says Nadežhdin.

60-year-old Nadeždin has criticized the military special operation, which is what Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine is officially called.
