The Batman signs the best French start in 2022 better

In cinemas in France since Wednesday March 2, 2022, The Batman is a film that was particularly anticipated. Because it’s a new film around the Dark Knight with Robert Pattinson in the title role of course, but also because it’s the project that Warner Bros launched after the failure of Justice League and the Snyderverse. It was Matt Reeves, the director of Cloverfield and the last two Planet of the Apes remakes, who stuck to the exercise and the result, as you know from our review, is of incredible quality. For the single day of Wednesday, it is 257,456 tickets sold in France, making it the best cinema start of 2022 in France. A very good performance which is also above that of Uncharted, yet considered a commercial success with us, since the film with Tom Holland and Mark Walhberg had attracted 150,000 spectators for its first day as well.

If we go a little further in the comparison, we realize that The Batman by Matt Reeves attracted many more people than the first Batman Begins by Christopher Nolan, which had sold 111,820 tickets on Wednesday. The Dark Knight, the sequel starring the late Heath Ledger that gave us the Joker’s best performance ever, had spawned 253,858 admissions, while the 3rd film in the trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises was a hit like never before with 423,970 admissions on the day of its launch. Given that The Batman has not yet been released in the United States (the films are released on Fridays) at the time of writing, we imagine that Matt Reeves’ plush should also attract American spectators en masse in the dark rooms. We will obviously update the entries next Monday.

D-Day France entries:
– The Batman (2022): 257,456 admissions
– Uncharted (2022): 150,000 admissions
– Batman Begins (2006): 111,820 admissions
– The Dark Knight (2008): 253,858 admissions
– The Dark Knight Rises (2012): 423,970 admissions
