And the sequel The Batman 2 with Robert Pattinson. The dark superhero blockbuster was actually supposed to start in October 2025. Enough time to finish a film, you might think. But as has just been announced, The Batman 2 postponed by a year.

The Batman 2 is now starting in the USA October 2, 2026, as the industry service Screen Daily reports. The German cinema release could then fall on Thursday, October 1st, 2026. An official explanation from the studio Warner Bros. is still pending and director Reeves has not yet commented on it at the time of this article.
The reason for the postponement of the DC blockbuster is sad
Last year, the actors and screenwriters’ unions in Hollywood stopped work for several months fairer wages and contracts to achieve. As a result, the North American film industry largely came to a standstill. This in turn has a domino effect that also affects projects that have not yet been implemented.
Production on The Batman 2 was supposed to begin in November last year, but after the strikes began, March 2024 was considered the new start date, Movieweb reported. Now it could be that work on the script has not progressed far enough to allow filming due to the writers’ strike.
It’s sad in that… Double strikes in Hollywood were avoidable. They were dragged out so long because the studios and streaming services were not ready to return to the negotiating table for a long time. For example, the authors stopped work on May 2, 2023 and it was not until August that the representatives of the producers agreed to another meeting.
At that time, there were increasing reports, including from the industry service Deadline, that the studios wanted to bring the strikers to their knees with this tactic instead of coming to a solution together. An agreement was only reached at the end of September, while the actors’ strike even lasted until November.
The next DC film in cinemas is Joker 2, which opens in Germany on October 3, 2024.
