The attack on Koran burner Salwan Momika was settled

The filmed attack on the well-known Koran-burner Salwan Momika in Södertälje was settled.

That’s according to a man on social media who claims to be the person in boxing gloves who carried out the attack.

– If that’s true, it could be a crime, says Ola Österling at the Stockholm Police.

It was on Monday afternoon that the well-known Koran-burner, Salwan Momika, was attacked in a square in Södertälje.

In a video that went viral on Tiktok, a man is seen attacking Salwan Momika with boxing gloves. The incident was reported to the police and classified as assault.

But now the boxer says, in a video on Tiktok, that everything was in fact made up – and says that he and Salwan Momika agreed to fight.

“It is a lie and slander. I don’t know who he is and I haven’t spoken to him before,” he writes to the newspaper.

Ola Österling, press spokesperson at the Stockholm police, told Aftonbladet on Tuesday evening that the report about the assault in Södertälje is still being investigated.

– We do not have any confirmed information that it would be settled, but we have received the same question from international media, he says.

If the attack was made up, is it a crime then?

– It could be a matter of crime if an attack were to be invented. This is called a false alarm or false alarm. It is about taking resources from the police that could be used for other purposes.

He continues:

– I cannot answer whether that is the case in this case. You have to investigate that and, among other things, see where the alarm to the police came from.

“Insisted on attacking”

On Monday, Salwan Momika described his view of what happened on the square in Södertälje in an email to Aftonbladet.

Among other things, he wrote that he was approached by the man with boxing gloves who promised death threats.

“Even though I tried to stop him from attacking and repeatedly asked him not to approach me, he insisted on attacking and hitting me.”

Aftonbladet has applied for Salwan Momika.
