Emotions were high this Tuesday in the ranks of the prison police after the death of two officers in the attack on their van in Eure. A call for a strike was launched.
This Tuesday, May 14, a prison administration convoy was attacked in Eure, at the Incarville toll during the extraction of an inmate, Mohamed Amra known as “The Fly”. Two officers were killed and three others injured. This is why the emotion was strong this afternoon in Caen. The Minister of Justice Eric Dupond-Moretti went to the Caen penitentiary center to meet the prison administration staff and pay tribute to the officers attacked.
“They came to kill us! There are no limits”
Among the colleagues of the two agents, the emotion was great this Tuesday. “The penitentiary is a small family” explains Damien Luce, interregional secretary Grand Ouest Justice Force Ouvrière in the columns of France Bleu Normandie. “We are thinking of their loved ones and their colleagues. The prisoner is in mourning,” he continues.
For his part, the secretary general of Ufap-UNSA Justice of the Saint-Quentin-Fallavier penitentiary center, Alain Chevallier also returned to the terror which struck the Eure this Tuesday for the Dauphiné Libéré. “In my memory as a prisoner, I have never experienced such an attack. It’s so brutal,” he concedes. “It’s horrible, they came to kill us! There are no limits.”
A call for a union strike
At the same time, four prison unions, FO Justice, UFAP, the CGT prison and the prison guards’ union called in a press release for the blocking of all prison establishments and structures. Walkouts and blockages should follow. The Luynes prison, Baumettes and the Draguignan penitentiary center will be blocked from this Wednesday by union action. A “dead prison day” to demand a reduction in extractions of prisoners favoring videoconferences with judges, and the accelerated deployment of telephone jammers in prison was also announced.
