Two eruptions occurred in about an hour at Anak Krakatau Volcano, located on Indonesia’s Anak Krakatoa Island. The Indonesian Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center (PVMBG) said in a statement that the volcano spewed ash and smoke to a height of 3,000 meters.
UPGRADED TO ALARM LEVEL 2
While the alarm level was raised to 2 after the eruptions in the volcano, evacuation orders have not yet been given to the residential areas. PVMBG has warned tourists and residents not to approach the volcano’s surroundings.
AT LEAST 10 EXPLOSIONS SINCE MARCH
Anak Krakatau Volcano, which is about 157 meters high, has erupted at least 10 times since March.
