The abandoned houses in Vindeln get new life – “Want the houses to be inhabited”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

About 200 people live in the village of Åmsele and it is one of the places where an inventory of abandoned houses was made.

– Here there are around 12 houses that are really deserted, and around 50 that are empty parts of the year, says Margaretha Andersson, who is a member of the Åmsele village association.

In the clip above, you can see one of the abandoned houses that SVT was allowed to go inside.

“Want to develop the countryside”

The municipality’s inventory has been ongoing since spring and is part of the “Workshop – Home is the Wind” project.

– There are already some houses that have new owners and this is important work to keep the countryside alive, says project manager Caroline Nyström.
