The 17th day of the war in Ukraine is brightening

Russian forces have continued their approach to Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. The city has been severely fired early Saturday.

We compiled for this story the three most important events of the previous evening and last night in connection with the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Kiev is being fired heavily

The city heard the sounds of explosions and alarm sirens early Saturday morning.

In Zhytomyr, too, alarm sirens have led residents to seek protection, the BBC reports.

In addition, Russian troops fired heavily on the port city of Mykolaiv on Friday night in southern Ukraine, local government sources said.

Zelenskyi: Over 7,000 people from four cities were evacuated on Friday

A total of 7,144 people were evacuated from four cities in Ukraine on Friday, the Ukrainian president said. Volodymyr Zelenskyi in his televised speech late Friday.

Friday’s reading was clearly lower than the previous two days. An estimated 35,000 people were evacuated on Wednesday and about 40,000 on Thursday.

Zelenskyi accuses Russia of obstructing the evacuation of the siege residents of Mariupol. He added that there are attempts to re-supply food, water and medicine to Mariupol on Saturday.

In Mariupol, a total of almost 1,600 people are estimated to have died in the firing of Russian troops. Residents of the city have been without electricity and water for more than a week.

The UN is not aware of a biological weapons program in Ukraine

On Friday, the UN knocked out allegations about a US-Ukraine biological weapons program. Under-Secretary-General of the World Organization for Disarmament Affairs Izumi Nakamitsun according to the UN is not aware of such a program.

Nakamitsu spoke at a UN Security Council meeting on Friday.

The Security Council met at Russia’s request. Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vasili Nebenzja claimed that Ukraine had a network of 30 laboratories for biological testing.

Both the United States and Ukraine have previously denied the existence of such laboratories producing biological weapons.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield accused Russia that the only reason for convening the Security Council was “lying and disseminating misleading information.”
