British intelligence: Russia continues to attack civilian escape routes

The British Department of Defense posted on Twitter at night message (switch to another service), in which it said Russia had continued to attack the escape routes offered to Ukrainian civilians. According to British intelligence, several civilians have died trying to escape from Irpin on the Kiev side.

Irpin, who has been the subject of intense fighting, has been without heating, water or electricity for several days, says the British Ministry of Defense.

Also the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi accused Russia of attacking civilians. Zelenskyi made an exceptional appearance late last Monday from his office in Kiev.

Zelenskyi appeared for the first time in public from his office after Russia invaded Ukraine.

Putin says he has no plans to send conscripts or reservists to Ukraine

President Vladimir Putin said in a televised speech late Monday night that he did not intend to send conscripts or reservists to Ukraine.

According to Putin, only professional soldiers are used in the Ukrainian operation.

“I am confident that they will ensure security and peace for the Russians in an effective way,” Putin said.

In recent days, there has been speculation that Putin will soon have to impose more troops on Ukraine because the progress of the Russian armed forces has been slower than the Kremlin assumed.

The day before yesterday, the U.S. newspaper the Wall Street Journal reported that Russia would be recruiting Syrian fighters specializing in the city war to occupy Kiev.

A Pentagon spokesman confirmed at night To CNN (switch to another service)that they, too, have information that Russia is trying to hire foreign fighters into Ukraine. The spokesman said it was “remarkable” for Russia’s superiority that “Putin sees a need to try to recruit foreign fighters for his war.”
