AMERSFOORT – With text carts on the Amersfoortse Stadsring, the police is calling on witnesses to the serious accident that happened there on Sunday evening.
A motorist involved in the collision immediately drove off. The driver is still missing. The 54-year-old cyclist he hit is in a coma. She has brain damage. A 22-year-old moped rider was also hit. He was slightly injured.
The police do have a strong suspicion that the driver who fled was driving. Some parts were left behind at the accident site. This includes a list of a bumper. It seems to belong on a silver-grey Mercedes C-class from the period 2000-2007.

The picture is not very clear. You can see how two cars drive over the Stadsring just before the intersection, with the suspected Mercedes in the right lane and a white car next to it. The white car stops, but the Mercedes hits the cyclist and then the moped. Sparks can be seen under the car.
Driver of another car
The white car pulled up at the intersection and stopped a little further. The driver probably spoke to a number of witnesses there. The police would like to speak to this driver and therefore urge him or her to get in touch.
