After a warplane belonging to Myanmar entered Thai airspace, it was decided to evacuate some villages and schools in Thailand.
The aircraft, thought to be MiG-29, made several circles over some villages and schools in the Phop Phra region of Thailand’s Tak province, according to witnesses.
F-16 AIRCRAFT SENT
In a statement made by the Royal Thai Air Force, it was stated that two F-16 fighter jets were sent to patrol the region after receiving a report that the warplane belonging to Myanmar, which was carrying out operations against ethnic minority groups in the border regions, entered the country’s airspace.
Villages and schools in the area where the violation took place were ordered to be evacuated.
WARNING RELEASED
A warning was sent to the Myanmar authorities through the military attache at the Thai Embassy of Myanmar to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Decades of conflict between the Myanmar army, which overthrew the elected government in February 2021 and seized power, and ethnic minority groups living in the border areas have intensified since the coup. (AA)
