Teens facing charges after mischief incident in Simcoe

Two 15-year-old youths are facing charges after a mischief incident near Norfolk General Hospital in Simcoe.

Norfolk OPP officers responded to an ongoing act of mischief on West Street at about 12:30 pm on Sunday.

Three people, who police say appeared to be teenagers, had forced their way into a vehicle parked near the hospital and attempted to access other vehicles.

The trio left the area on foot, said police.

An hour later, police arrested one of the suspects on Queen Street North.

“Upon searching them, officers discovered a quantity of stolen property, along with suspected cocaine and ecstasy,” said a news release.

A 15-year-old from Dundas has been charged with obstructing a peace officer, drug possession, six counts of possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of failing to comply with a release order and mischief under $5,000.

The accused was held in custody to await a bail hearing.

An hour later, police arrested a second suspect, also on Queen Street North in Simcoe.

Police allege the suspect was in possession of stolen property at the time of the arrest.

A 15-year-old Norfolk resident has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime and mischief under $5,000.

The accused is expected to appear in court at a later date.

Neither teen can be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
