Taylor Swift holds an honorary doctorate from New York University

Wearing a red lipstick and a purple coat of honor, Swift joked with the thousands of students in attendance.

– I’m 90 percent sure that the main reason I’m here is because I did a song called “22”, said Swift and went on to describe his own schooling:

– I never had a normal college experience. I went to municipal high school until the tenth grade and then finished my education with home school work on the floor at airport terminals, Swift said in his speech.

The singer / songwriter told that she started her music career when she was 15 and toured around various radio stations in the country. The rest is history, Swift has sold 100 million records and won the category of album of the year at last year’s Grammy Gala for “Folkore”. This makes her the first person to win the category three times. Her previous wins came in 2010 for “Fearless” and 2016 for “1989”.

Taylor Swift ended her speech by sharing a piece of advice for this year’s graduating class:

– I will not tell you what to do because no one likes it, but I will give you a “lifehack”. Never ashamed to try. That you do not have to make an effort is a myth.
