Before the last presidential election, Taylor Swift came out and supported the Democratic candidate Joe Biden. She has not yet done that before the autumn elections, however according to American media is she courted by the Biden administration. At the same time, people close to Donald Trump are said to have declared a “holy war” against the world artist, according to Rolling Stones magazine.
– She is the biggest in the world right now and I don’t know if she wants to set foot in politics. If Taylor Swift were to say something about who she supports, I think it would make some swifties think twice about who they vote for, says Lauren Lipman, who is a big fan, a “swiftie”.
Over half of Americans say they are fans of Taylor Swift. 16 percent say they are devoted fans and of those, 55 percent are Democrats while only 23 percent are Republicans, according to a survey from 2023.
“Difficult seat for Republicans”
That Swift has such loyal fans suggests she can influence, says David James Jackson, a professor at State University who has studied celebrities’ political stances.
– The Republicans are in a difficult situation because if Taylor Swift, who has one of the most devoted fan bases ever, actually supports Joe Biden, then it could matter, he says in the Foreign Office.
One in five believe in conspiracies
Taylor Swift flew from her ongoing world tour to the Super Bowl to support boyfriend Travis Kelce, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs. Their relationship has been questioned as genuine and has led to conspiracy theories that the world artist is part of a conspiracy.
According to a recent investigation in the United States, nearly one in five Americans believe Swift is involved in a “covert” plan to help Biden win the presidential election.
