The Swedish family Deibo was on board the Japanese plane that caught fire on landing on Tuesday.

– It was a near-death experience. It’s probably not possible to get closer than this, says Jonas Deibo to TT.

On Tuesday, a Japan Airlines passenger plane caught fire after colliding with a Coast Guard aircraft at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. On the flight was Swedish Jonas Deibo with his family, which Aftonbladet was the first to report. The family was spread out in the plane and Jonas Deibo was sitting by one wing of the plane when suddenly there was a bang on landing.

– I immediately saw how it started to burn heavily at the wing. The atmosphere was calm at first, but when smoke started entering the plane, everyone threw themselves on the floor. I ran back to my family and we got out through the emergency doors, he tells TT.

Son Anton Deibo sat further back in the plane with his sister. He too quickly noticed that something was wrong.

– The plane shook but we manage to land somehow. Then it got really hot and you could see fire outside the window and smoke started to enter the plane. All the lights on the plane went out and people started to panic, he says.

– There was more and more smoke in the cabin and it started to sting the eyes. At the same time, you could see how it was burning outside the plane.

All the exclamations were in Japanese and it was difficult for the family to understand what was happening. But once they got out of the plane, the emergency services were there and tried to put out the plane, which was on fire.

– We ran out into a field, says son Anton Deibo.

What is happening now the family does not know, but they are safe.

– Now it’s okay. We have ended up on a bus, says Jonas Deibo.

All people on board the plane, close to 400, managed to evacuate. Five people from the Coast Guard plane were killed.
