The elite rider is said to have also kicked and whipped horses and not given them enough feed, something that horse handlers noticed. The staff in the stable bought hay with their own money, which they secretly gave to the horses.
The elite rider denies the accusations
The man says in an email conversation with Aftonbladet that he follows the rules of the Equestrian Federation and the Swedish Agricultural Agency. He denies the allegations.
Andrea Barth, sports director at the Equestrian Association, has reacted to the article and writes in a statement:
“This is extremely serious information, which goes against everything that Swedish equestrian sport stands for. Now we are trying to get more information about what has happened, so that we can act based on it.”
