Sweden’s flag is raised at NATO headquarters in Brussels

During Monday morning, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) was welcomed to NATO’s headquarters in Brussels by Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. Last Thursday, Sweden officially became a member of NATO. Now another formal step in the NATO process is completed – the flag raising. The ceremony was scheduled to begin at 12 noon, but has been delayed a few minutes.

A minor problem has appeared in rainy Brussels.

– The flag is incredibly heavy after being wet since yesterday. So they have tried to see how it should be lifted and tried several times. Almost twisted out of it, says TV4’s Ritva Rönnberg on location in Brussels.
