“As public service companies, SVT and EPN are part of our countries’ total defense and have an obligation to continue operations in crisis and even war,” the CEOs write in the debate article.
SVT and EPN already cooperate with regard to, for example, children, drama and documentaries, but the cooperation is now to be deepened further. The two companies will look at the possibility of being able to broadcast each other’s programs in crisis situations, and support each other in the production of news in both Finnish and Swedish.
Counter disinformation
The CEOs further write that “another important area for Swedish-Finnish cooperation is to counter disinformation and information influence”. Companies are now investing more in developing new methods for verifying facts and exposing fake news in order to make the population more resistant to the influence of information.
