BUNSCHOTEN-SPAKENBURG – The board of football association Spakenburg knows who the leaders are of the rioters who attacked player Vince Gino Dekker yesterday during a practice match in Katwijk. The problem is that it is difficult to find hard evidence against the group, Spakenburg chairman Klaas Hartog said on Radio M.

The incident in Katwijk is certainly not an isolated incident, Hartog says. “A group that calls itself Harde Kern Spakenburg has been involved in vandalism for some time.” The problem has been going on since September last year. “They got a stadium ban at the time and things have gone wrong ever since. It happens every Saturday.”

And it doesn’t stop at disturbances around the matches of the Blues. Board members and volunteers are intimidated at home and at work. A board member recently got an iron bar through the windshield of his house.

During the away match against Quick Boys, Vince Gino Dekker had to pay, the chairman does not know why. Some guy running onto the field tried to kick him down. It must have something to do with his move to IJsselmeervogels. But these are not our supporters.”

Leaders and followers

The names of the leaders are known to the board of SV Spakenburg. “But you’re also talking about a bunch of followers. Yesterday in Katwijk it was a group of 30, 40 people. There are a few who take control. There is a great danger that those followers will do the same”, says Hartog.

“We have very good contacts with the mayor and the police, but if you don’t have proof, it becomes a very difficult story.” For example, photos of homemade melee weapons, but indisputable proof that they are the work of the Harde Kern Spakenburg isn’t there. “We know that the police will intensify the investigation.”

Fear and trembling before the derby

Hartog fears that the misbehavior undermines the enthusiasm of volunteers. But the chairman does not want to accept that. “As an entire association, we have to stand behind each other and make sure that they don’t get a chance to damage the club. We have also placed a statement on the website, in which we say to parents: keep an eye on your children. Because it is very young young people who sympathize with the HKS.”

We are looking forward to the derby against IJsselmeervogels, which is scheduled for next month, with some apprehension. ”Tomorrow evening there will be what we call the Westmaat meeting. There is such a meeting for every derby. Public order will certainly be discussed there, but it is the job of the mayor to ensure that it runs smoothly. The cooperation with the neighbors has been going well in recent years.”
