Several people were in the house in Bro when a hand grenade exploded outside.

Shortly afterwards, an 18-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were arrested and taken into custody.

But a 33-year-old man who was also requested to be remanded in custody was released, which was appealed by the prosecutor who requested him to be remanded in custody.

– There are three suspects at the moment – I want them all detained, says prosecutor Malin Eriksdotter.

The alarm came to the police on Saturday evening earlier in November. Several people had heard a loud bang in a residential area in Upplands Bro outside Stockholm.

On the spot, the police could determine that something had exploded, according to Aftonbladet’s information, it was a hand grenade. Several people were inside the house when the grenade exploded.

Was set free

That same evening, three people were arrested, two of them were detained – an 18-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman. Later that night, a 33-year-old man was also arrested in his absence. At lunchtime the next day, he was also detained.

Prosecutor Malin Eriksdotter at the national unit against international organized crime chose to request the three people be detained. The 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of general dangerous destruction and violation of the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods. The 21-year-old woman was also arrested, suspected of general dangerous destruction.

But the district court did not follow the prosecutor’s line regarding the 33-year-old man and he was not arrested.

– I thought the district court’s decision was wrong. There are three suspects at the moment and I wanted them all detained, says Malin Eriksdotter.

Was released and remanded in custody

After the completed remand hearing in the district court, the 33-year-old was released. But the prosecutor chose to appeal and the man was deprived of his liberty again.

Then the prosecutor requested that he be remanded in custody in Svea Court of Appeal – the higher instance.

– I can’t remember the last time I had such a detention, says Malin Eriksdotter.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Court of Appeal made a different assessment than the district court and the 33-year-old was arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting public destruction.

Previously convicted of weapons offences

The 33-year-old man already appears in the criminal register a large number of times. He has been sentenced to prison on several occasions and committed violent crimes, theft, drug crimes and weapons crimes.

If the suspects in the case have any connection to criminal networks and the ongoing conflict in the Stockholm area, the prosecutor does not want to comment on this at this time.

– It often happens in one or another case these days, but I don’t want to comment on that, says Malin Eriksdotter.
