ARK: Survival Evolved has a new creature that players can use to their advantage. It’s a bug that can even carry a T-Rex.

What kind of beetle is that? On June 2nd, a new creature, the Rhyniognatha, was added to ARK: Survival Evolved. This is an extinct beetle that belonged to the Arthropod genus and can be found on the “The Island” and “Lost Island” maps.

An omnivore, the giant insect in ARK feeds on both meat and berries, but cannot be tamed by feeding. Instead, a wild Rhyniognatha fertilizes one of your dinosaurs, such as a Giganotosaurus, which later dies giving birth to the beetle.

You can take over and imprint the newborn insect like a bred creature.

What can the beetle do? The Rhyniognatha brings a wide range of abilities that players can use in their struggle for survival.

The movement ability of the beetle is particularly useful. This can not only walk, but also fly and carry up to two players on one saddle. The Rhyniognatha can also land on water and regenerate endurance there, for example. Diving is also possible with the insect.

In addition, the Rhyniognatha is able to carry heavy objects and creatures and fly to another location. In addition to a safe, a tree platform or even an industrial smelter, the giant beetle can also tow larger dinos. The cool bug is the only creature in the game that can carry a Tyrannosaurus Rex and a Diplodocus, for example.

In addition, the Rhyniognatha has:

  • a type of armor that the beetle creates out of resin to encase its own body
