Surface Laptop Studio: Microsoft’s high-end laptop arrives in France

Surface Laptop Studio Microsofts high end laptop arrives in France

Pre-orders are open. From February 22, Microsoft will market the Surface Laptop Studio in France. This funny PC, which we were able to discover in December, is the most powerful of the Surface range, and the heir of the late Surface Book, which it replaces, but also of the Surface Studio, from which it is inspired.

His extra thing? A tilting screen, which allows it to be used as a traditional laptop PC. It can also be tilted in “stage” mode, which makes the keyboard disappear, or even in “studio” mode, where it then looks like a giant tablet, with its large 14.4-inch screen.

Two configurations are offered for sale: one based on Core i5 (11300H), the other in Core i7 (11370H). But, beyond their processor, what distinguishes these two machines is the presence, in the high-end model, of a dedicated graphics card. The Core i7 version therefore includes an RTX 3050 Ti, equipped with 4 GB of RAM. The Core i5 model is content with an Iris Xe integrated graphics circuit.

Expensive as a Surface

You can already configure your machine on the Microsoft Store. But beware, Surface requires, it is not given. The entry-level (Core i5, 16 GB of RAM, 256 GB of SSD) starts at 1,700 euros. The Core i7 version, the one with the RTX 3050 Ti, starts at … 2,200 euros, with 16 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of storage.

It’s expensive, and yet it is this model that seems really interesting to us, given the dimensions of the machine. Surface Laptop Studio weighs close to two kilos, and its cooling system was designed for rather heavy creative tasks (image processing, video editing, development, etc.), or even for gaming.

We will have the opportunity to tell you more during our test of this atypical PC, as Microsoft likes them.
