Sulfur® is a homeopathic treatment which can be interesting during inflammatory or infectious conditions, but these are not the only reasons to use it.

Definition: what is Sulfur?

Sulfur® is a homeopathic medicine made from sulfur dilutions, a yellow-colored, naturally occurring mineral particularly prevalent near volcanic craters. The sulfur is removed and then purified before being ground into a powder and diluted in lactose. It is then used in more or less high dilutions according to the manufacturing principle of homeopathy. Sulfur® is mainly used in dermatology and in the ENT sphere but would be as effective in gastroenterology, in gynecology, ophthalmology, urology, cardiology or even in rheumatology. It would fight against various types of infections and inflammatory conditions. This medication is in the form of granule tubes or globule doses. Sulfur is also found in various homeopathic complexes.

Indications: when to take Sulfur?

Homeopathy, based on the principle of similarity using minute doses of active substance, has not yet proven its effectiveness on a scientific level and its health benefits have not yet been demonstrated through studies. However, it does not seem to present any particular danger on the condition that it does not delay the diagnosis. This is why when the appearance of symptoms or suspicion of a pathology, medical advice is required so as not to delay adequate care, depending on the situation. Homeopathic remedies can be used alone in benign conditions or in addition to other treatments. Sulfur® is indicated in a large number of medical situations evoking a viral infection (such as herpes, shingles, measles or chickenpox), bacterial (whooping cough, impetigo, boils, styes), or parasitic (like scabies). He also fights against symptoms associated with these infections such as inflammation-related disorders (examples: pain, rash). Sulfur® is particularly used in dermatology in case of eczema, dermatitis, acne, lucite, purulent eruptions, itchy skin or scalp, scabs, diaper rash, psoriasis or frostbite. At the ENT level, Sulfur® is indicated in inflammatory conditions such as colds, ear infections, rhinitis (chronic or allergic), sore throat or nosebleeds. Respiratory disorders can also be treated with Sulfur® (breathing difficulties, coughing fits, bronchitis, nocturnal asthma relieved by fresh air, etc.). In ophthalmologySulfur® is indicated in blepharitis, keratitis, inflammation of the eye caused by glaucoma or cataracts and any inflammatory manifestation of the ocular area. In gastroenterology, Sulfur® is used in ulcers, colitis, bloating, digestive disorders (diarrhea, belching, flatulence) or in case of gastritis. The joint pain, including those related to rheumatism or low back pain, can be relieved by Sulfur®. In urology, Sulfur® is a remedy that allows relieve urinary tract disorders such as inflammation of the prostate or bladder (example: during urinary tract infections). The gynecological inflammatory pain (example: menstrual or premenstrual disorders) as well as gynecological conditions (mycosis, vaginitis, vulvitis) can be treated with Sulfur®. Finally, this drug would be effective in cardiology in arrhythmias (palpitations, aneurysm).

Homeopathy is best taken apart from meals and strong-tasting foods (tobacco, coffee, mint, alcohol). Whether used in the form of globule doses or granule tubes, the granules or globules are to be left to melt under the tongue. In children under 6 years old and in order to avoid mistakes, the granules or globules can be dissolved in a little water. The dosage and dilution vary according to the indication and are determined individually on medical advice: in case of acute infectiona dose of Sulfur® 9 or 15 CH to be taken as soon as possible and repeated if necessary 7 days later; in case of skin infection with itching, a dose of Sulfur® 9 to 30 CH once a week for 1 to 3 months; in case of skin inflammation (psoriasis, dermatitis, shingles), a dose of Sulfur® 15 CH; in case of allergic rhinitis or asthma, a dose of Sulfur® 9 CH once a week for 2 to 3 months; in case of bronchitis, one dose of Sulfur® 15 CH per week for 4 months; in case of digestive disorders5 granules of Sulfur® 15 CH in the morning for 3 months; in case of colitis, a dose of Sulfur® 15 CH once a week; in cases of rheumatism, arthritis or osteoarthritis5 granules of Sulfur® 9 CH per day or a dose of Sulfur® 9 or 15 CH once a week; in case of heart problems, urinary problems such as cystitis or in case of vaginitis, a dose of Sulfur® 15 CH once a week; in case of vaginal mycosis, 3 granules of Sulfur® 5 CH 3 times a day for 5 days.

What are the side effects of Sulfur?

Sulfur® is contraindicated in case of allergy to any of the components of the drug. Granules and doses contain sucrose and lactose, excipients to be taken into account in the event of a pathology that does not allow their administration (such as galactosemia, lactose or galactose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrase iso-maltase deficiency).
