L, C and KD in a bad way before the EU elections

With five and a half weeks left until the EU elections, TV4 Nyheterna today presents an opinion poll in collaboration with Novus which shows that neither the Liberals, the Center Party nor the Christian Democrats will make it into the European Parliament.
On the other hand, the MP’s support is clearly above the party’s internal figures, but the support is expected to change when the election campaign starts.

Just as in the parliamentary elections, the 4 percent threshold also applies in the elections to the European Parliament. When Sweden’s 21 of the 720 places are to be distributed on June 9, according to Novus’ measurement, it will take place without either L, C or KD.

– The challenge for these three is that there will be relatively unknown people who stand in the election. They don’t get votes for free, but they will get visibility for free, says Torbjörn Sjöström, CEO of Novus.

The fourth small party MP, on the other hand, gets a clearly stronger result here than its domestic political support, with 10.3 percent passed the Left Party, which gets 8.5 percent.

They are clearly the biggest

The Sweden Democrats are slightly larger than the Moderates, but clearly the largest is the Social Democrats. 31.2 percent is 7.7 percentage points more than S’s results in 2019, but according to Novus’ CEO, it is too early to predict a successful election. The election campaign has not yet started, and the numbers will change when the debate does not revolve as clearly as today mostly around the three largest parties.

– A large part is about the fact that the election campaign has not started for the EU elections, but it still hangs around the support in the parliamentary elections, where the Social Democrats are extremely strong. This will likely go down when the smaller parties get a little more space in the debate, says Torbjörn Sjöström, CEO of Novus.

The measurement was carried out from 1 to 28 April through interviews with 2,311 people via telephone or SMS. Among the 2.6 percent other parties there are several, including Folklistan, which was launched during the measurement period. However, none of these parties gets more than half a percent themselves.
