A person with personal assistance became unconscious when two substitutes were to operate a cough machine. A few hours later, the person died in hospital. The municipality of Skellefteå is now reported to the Inspectorate for Care and Care (Ivo), reports SVT Västerbotten.

– It is a serious incident and we have made a report, now we will wait for Ivo’s investigation, says the head of department at Skellefteå municipality to SVT.

The deceased Skellefteå resident had extensive needs for support, including when using a cough machine. Three months before the person died, responsibility for the assistance was taken over by Skellefteå municipality. During that time, 33 different assistants worked for the person, reports SVT.

In the lex Sarah notification, it is stated that Skellefteå municipality had not secured the practical support that the person needed.
