Two civilians have been killed in Russian attacks in the regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhya in southern Ukraine, regional authorities have announced.

Russia claims a small community in Luhansk has been captured.

One person has been killed and one has been injured in attacks in Kherson, the region’s Ukrainian governor Oleksandr Prokudin said on Monday.

Kherson was retaken by Ukrainian forces in late 2022, several months after Russian forces invaded Ukraine, but the region and the largest city of the same name have since come under repeated attacks.

Drones stopped

During the night to Monday, Ukraine has, according to the military, shot down nearly 30 Russian drones in various parts of the country.

In Zaporizhzhya, Governor Ivan Fedorov says Russian forces have attacked a village and that one man has been killed.

Russian attacks have also hit the region of Mykolajiv where one person and a home are said to have been damaged.

Ukrainian air defenses have reportedly intercepted several Shahed drones in the regions of Poltava in the center of the country, Odessa on the Black Sea and Lviv in the west.

Many dead in Kharkiv

On Monday, Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that its forces had taken control of the small Ukrainian community of Bilogorivka in Luhansk. It was one of the few communities in Luhansk still controlled by Kiev.

On Sunday, an attack was directed at the community of Mala Danylivka, which is located on the outskirts of the big city of Kharkiv. During Monday, the death toll was written up with information that at least eleven people have been confirmed dead in the attack, and that dozens have been injured.

On Sunday, at least five people were also killed in attacks on villages near Kupyansk, which is in the same region in northeastern Ukraine.
