There was no competitive race for Stina Nilsson in the Olympics.
But the Swede still had a decisive role when her teammates won Olympic gold.

Soon the third season as a biathlete will start for the Swedish jump Stina Nilsson. Now the 29-year-old will take another big step towards reaching the world elite in the new sport and seriously establish himself in the fierce competition.

Although there was no Olympic race for Nilsson, she still sees the Olympics as a great experience.
– It was great fun to be selected for the Olympics. Of course, I had hoped until the very end to start, but I’m also happy with how I handled it. That I could turn it into making the best of it, and create an environment for myself that made me very inspired when I would go to the World Cup again, she says in an interview with Dagens Nyheter.

Celebrated after the gold

– She obviously wanted to compete as much as everyone else. But when she learns that there won’t be a relay, she still keeps her spirits up and does what she can to support us.

Nilsson swallowed his pride and took on the role of the perfect teammate to give his colleagues the very best support when it was needed most.
– I am very proud of myself in that situation. If I had been one of the girls who went, I would have wanted a teammate like me. And with the performance that the girls did, it was really the right team selection. It was as much world class as it can be, says Stina Nilsson in the interview.
