Stellantis, agreement with Ample for fast charging in Spanish rental fleet

(Finance) – Stellantisone of the world’s leading automotive manufacturers, and Amplean American company active in the battery field, have signed a binding agreement for a partnership on the battery charging technology of electric vehicles (EVs) capable of delivering a fully charged battery in less than five minutes.

The two partners have reached an agreement for theintegration of the Modular Battery Swapping solution of Ample in Stellantis electric vehicles, we read in a note. Battery swapping technology allows electric vehicle owners to replace their depleted battery with a fully charged one in just a few minutes by stopping at a swapping station.

The pilot program is scheduled to launch in 2024 Madridin Spain, on one fleet of 100 Fiat 500e as part of the car sharing service Free2move of Stellantis. The two companies are also evaluating expanding the application of Ample’s modular battery swapping technology to meet Stellantis fleet and consumer demand across other Stellantis platforms and geographies.
