PROVINCE OF UTRECHT – Fifteen Ukrainian refugees have found a place in Bunnik. They are accommodated in the hostel of Stay Okay. There is room for another twenty to twenty-five refugees.

An employee of Stay Okay informs us that the refugees arrived the day before yesterday. The Bunnik thrift store EcoKring has furnished a seating area for Ukrainians on behalf of the municipality. “We have also been able to supply indoor games, outdoor games and a bicycle,” the thrift store writes on Facebook.

Almost 2400 places at home in Utrecht

Many Utrecht residents also register to receive Ukrainian refugees at home. 2389 host families from the province of Utrecht have now registered with Takecarebnb to take in Ukrainian refugees. The organization has been linking refugees to Dutch host families since 2015.

This weekend the organization took over the database of citizens’ initiative Shelter Ukraine. As a result, the central database, including the 8,500 registrations from Shelter Ukraine, grew to 24,542 host families.
