Starfield without bugs? What Bethesda’s older titles can already tell us about the sci-fi shooter

Starfield will be a gigantic sci-fi game in which you will have the opportunity to explore the depths of space. Since this upcoming title from Bethesda seems complex and already screams bugs by the miles, we looked at older titles from the developers and listed them to show you what to expect at release and how carefully Bethesda is working.

What is Bethesda known for? The developers behind Starfield are known for two things:

  • Your strong and immersive games
  • Their whimsical bugs in these games
  • It doesn’t matter whether it’s Fallout, The Elder Scrolls or Rage. Almost every Bethesda game comes with a bunch of bugs that are either funny or annoying.

For this reason, we took a closer look at older games from Bethesda and show you the status of these games when they came onto the market.

Now we come to a well-known game from Bethesda that many of you Dragonbloods should know.

Skyrim – Broken carriages, giant chickens and dancing dragons

How broken is Skyrim? The emphasis here is on “is”, because although Skyrim is many years old and has not only survived one release, this title is full of bugs.

The most well-known bug is that of your carriage, which should bring you to Helgen at the very beginning of your journey. Your execution awaits, but your carriage begins to break dance and play wildly. As absurd as that may sound, it was actually a bug:

But that’s not all: whether you’ve dealt with naked couriers, gigantic chickens or dragons dancing wildly in the air (via youtube.com), Skyrim is on a mountain of bugs, but that’s not too bad. Most of these bugs are just fun to look at and create odd moments.

Fallout 4 – Flying bodies, rolling cars and frozen birds

How broken is Fallout 4? Fallout 4 is also a prime example of how broken a game can be. Fallout 4 looks and plays better than its predecessor, but the bugs in this game are undeniable.

The wasteland is full of dangers, but no one said anything about flying corpses or randomly rolling cars. Even birds are so shocked by this that they suddenly just freeze in place.

If that weren’t enough, some of the walls don’t exist, although they are clearly visible. You can simply pass them and appear under the game world.

NPCs are also confused and simply lose the objective of their missions. Then they wander around the wasteland and end up in contextless places.

Last but not least, there are also opponents who lose their will in the middle of a fight and freeze themselves to lure you into melee combat. Then they wake up and attack you. Fallout 4 has many bugs in the game and our listing is just the tip of the iceberg.

Rage (2011) – Unfinished and broken physics

How broken is 2011’s Rage? Rage has set new standards when it comes to bugs. A good example of this would be your dead enemies, who would happily throw in a wacky dance routine if they somehow managed to get between the ground. Wild movements across entire rooms followed, but that wasn’t all.

Entire textures also disappeared, became blurred or were replaced by indefinable images. One player was even unsure whether it was a bug or modern art (via youtube.com) because his world seemed completely questionable and he had never seen it like this before.

Conclusion – you should know that: Anyone who has known Bethesda for a long time knows that almost every game from their forge is full of wacky bugs. That’s not to say Starfield will be unplayable or full of bugs, though.

So far there are no tests that can prove the state of this sci-fi shooter when it is released. So it’s quite possible that the developers put the game through its paces and were able to fix many problems.

However, you shouldn’t raise your expectations too high in terms of “condition”, since Starfield is a very complex and, above all, huge game. It remains to be seen what Bethesda actually created. If you still encounter bugs during the release, then see them as a feature with an entertainment factor.
