Sollefteå municipality’s appeal to residents: Reduce water consumption

According to Sollefteå’s communications strategist Majed Safaee, the situation this year is extreme. It is a large draw on several works, but the smaller water works in smaller communities are most vulnerable.

The municipality writes on its website that the water is mainly for cooking, drinking and hygiene – but that on hot and dry days the drinking water is used to fill swimming pools, among other things.

“The fact that it happens on single days does not have to be a problem, but over a longer period of time where water consumption increases a lot, a situation can arise where the waterworks are no longer able to produce water”, according to the municipality.

If the situation does not change, the next step is to impose an irrigation ban, according to Safaee.
