So Mark Harmons Gibbs appears in episode 1000

After Navy CIS recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, the popular crime series, together with its spin-offs Navy CIS: LA., Navy CIS: Hawaii and NCIS: Sydney, has now recorded its 1000th episode. A very special case came up for the special unit, which brought back a few old acquaintances – including a series legend Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon). But this return turned out to be a little different than fans expected.

NCIS Anniversary returns to the series’ first case – and therefore to Gibbs

The anniversary episode titled A Thousand Yards ran as episode 7 of the 21st season of the main series NCIS. In view of increasing attacks on the faculty, special agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole) has to deal with the presidium’s past. It becomes clear that the unit is dealing with an enemy that the team encountered decades ago.

NCIS

Here’s how A Thousand Yards draws connections to the very first NCIS episode. In the episode titled Air Force One The president was assassinated using snake venom during an Air Force One flight. As the investigator in charge at the time, Gibbs was able to solve the case and prevent the assassination attempt at the last second.

In A Thousand Yards, the incident is explored using Archive material brought to mind in which Gibbs convicts the assassin. But the anniversary episode also pays tribute to the series legend in other archive recordings. These include pictures of Gibbs with some of his former NCIS colleagues, including Ziva David (Cote de Pablo), Dwayne Cassius “King” Pride (Scott Bakula) and G Callen (Chris O’Donnell).

When will the 1000th NCIS episode air in Germany?

The 1000th episode aired on April 15, 2024 in the USA on CBS. It is not yet known when the anniversary episode will be shown in this country. Since the new episodes usually appear on German television around three to four months after the US premiere, the 21st season of NCIS will not be broadcast Summer 2024 probably.
