So it goes with Amber Heards film career

After weeks of trial between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp, the verdict has been reached. The actress needs her ex-husband about $10 million in damages to count. The jury found it proven that Amber Heard had damaged his career by publicly describing herself as a victim of domestic violence. Depp has to pay Heard around $2 million for his ex-lawyer’s defamatory statements. He had claimed that Heard’s allegations were a “hoax,” a false report.

But even away from the courtroom, Heard was branded a liar. Dozens of major media outlets shed light on the alleged hate campaigns against the actress on social media. But it also means the end of the process the end of Amber Heard’s acting career? Does not have to be. We explain why.

The court case diminished Heard’s important role in Aquaman 2

As Mera in Aquaman, Heard landed hers biggest role so far. The character also appeared in Zack Snyder’s Justice League film, for example. The actress has already confirmed in court that her Role drastically reduced in upcoming DC sequel Aquaman 2 had been.

DC boss Walter Hamada testified that the character should get less screen time from the start because of the lack of chemistry between her and Jason Momoa. However, other testimonies made it clear that larger Mera scenes were evident in the script shortened due to the public controversy surrounding the actress and have been changed.

After the court ruling, which is interpreted as Amber Heard’s loss to Johnny Depp, their chances should be up larger roles in studio blockbusters close to zero to tend. At least for now. The current image damage seems too great – be it justified or not.

Post-Johnny Depp: Independent films are likely to be pivotal to Amber Heard’s acting career

If you look at Heard’s entire acting career, the big Aquaman role was an exception anyway. Before her biggest blockbuster to date, Heard mainly played in the years before in relatively small productions like All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, John Carpenter’s The Ward, Drive Angry, Magic Mike XXL or Zombieland.

Before the trial, she starred in the new series adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand. She also directed an indie thriller called In the Fire, which has not yet been released. In the future, Amber Heard is likely to focus more on smaller roles or independent films focus to slowly regain a foothold in the industry.

Film and PR experts are critical of Amber Heard’s future in Hollywood

Whether that will happen remains to be seen. PR expert Alexandra Villa told Britain’s Mirror : Even smaller productions will be carefulto put money into Amber for some project.” After all, it seems like most of the public isn’t on their side.

Hollywood insider Matthew Belloni was also rather skeptical about the near future of Heard’s career in his podcast The Town: Maybe people feel sorry for her and therefore cast them for their films. Maybe they don’t want the hordes of Johnny Depp fans to gravitate toward their films, so they don’t cast them.”

In the end, however, the expert is certain: Amber Heard will also work in the film industry again, “but not in the big films in the near future”.
