Snow squall watch issued for Norfolk

Parts of the Norfolk area could get as much as 60 cm of snow by Sunday morning, says Environment Canada.

The national weather service issued a snow squall watch for the county on Thursday.

“Conditions are favorable for a prolonged period of significant lake effect snow squalls off Lake Erie tonight through this weekend. Extremely dangerous travel is expected within these snow squalls,” said an update issued early Thursday night.

Visibility could be zero at times due to squalls and blowing snow.

“Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometers are common,” said the notice.
