Norrbotten has no participants in the Fencing Championship, which takes place during the Fencing week in Luleå and Boden. But the hope from Stil Luleå is that within a few years there will be competitors at the highest level also from Norrbotten,
– This means everything to us. Hopefully this can give the sport an extra boost here in Luleå, says chairman Tommy Karlsson.
Mostly beginners
In Luleå, most people try fencing at some point, says Tommy Karlsson, who hopes that the SM competitions in Luleå can be the starting point for a new future for fencing in the county.
– We are far behind the rest of the country, but being able to have the elite in place and show them off to the audience I think can be very valuable in the long run.
