Six Palestinians are reported to have been shot dead by Israeli soldiers in the al-Fara refugee camp in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

“The fighting intensified as (Israeli) forces stormed the camp, intense shooting continued and explosions were heard,” writes the Palestinian news agency Wafa.

Israel’s military has yet to comment on the incident.

The West Bank is counted together with Gaza as one of the Palestinian areas which, with the Oslo agreements from 1993 and 1995, would be granted some autonomy. Gaza is ruled by terrorist-branded Hamas and that is where the ongoing war is mainly taking place. The West Bank is governed by the internationally recognized Palestinian Authority and the secular organization Fatah – but is largely occupied by Israel. The war has worsened the spiral of violence there as well.
