The police were alerted to a residential area in Hagalund in Solna outside Stockholm, shortly before 10pm on Friday evening due to loud bangs that were perceived to be from firearms.

– When we got there to the scene, we found findings that allowed us to establish that there had been a shooting, says Per Fahlström, press spokesperson at the Stockholm Police.

At least one empty casing was found and the site was cordoned off for technical examination. However, no one has been found injured.

– In connection with the fact that investigative measures have been carried out at the scene in the form of interrogations and so on, information has come to light which has led to the initiation of a preliminary investigation regarding attempted murder and serious weapons offences, says Fahlström.

The police are looking for suspected perpetrators, interviewing witnesses and investigating whether there are surveillance cameras in the area that may have caught something on film.

Shortly after 01 o’clock on the night of Saturday, no one had yet been arrested.
