HV71 is back in the SHL.
Then the mockery from Växjö Lakers hails.
“We welcome little brother back,” they write.
It was a real bang when HV71, in the spring of 2021, left the SHL. The Jönköping team had played in the top league since 1985, but after an anxious playoff series against Brynäs, they went out, for games in the Hockeyallsvenskan.

But the stay there was short-lived. HV71 invested heavily and it was clear that they would return immediately, and so it was. In the end, it was not very exciting, and after a final series against Björklöven, they had to celebrate games in the top league again.
And a team that seems to rejoice over that is Växjö Lakers. The Småland team may have missed having a local rival like HV, and now that the game schedule has been released, the Lakers take the opportunity to mock their rival healthy. The first home match for Växjö against HV is played on December 17, and when they released tickets for the match, they did so with a real mockery.
The mockery of the rival
It was written, among other things, that “yellow is ugly” in the picture on the website, and also:
“On Saturday, December 17, we welcome little brother HV71 back to VIDA Arena for Smålandsderby. Enjoy a wonderful derby atmosphere with fighting on the ice as well as in the stands ”.
But the little brother mockery did not go well with the HV supporters. Instead, many chose to strike back on social media.
“Haha ‘little brother’… HV is older, has more gold, more members, more audience… even though we are not siblings. Växjö is possibly the cousin from the country “, writes one user.
“Do not forget that just over 10 years ago, most people in Växjö also cheered on Hv71”, writes another.
