Several people have been injured after an apartment building collapsed in Marseille. Marseille mayor Benoit Payan says 32 buildings near the house have been evacuated. A total of 163 people have been taken care of in connection with the accident. Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin is on site in Marseille and tells the media there that it is feared that people are stuck under the racial masses. The president shows support – We believe that there are between four and a dozen people under the rubble, he says, adding that there is a risk that people have lost their lives. On Twitter, French President Emmanuel Macron has shown his support for the victims. “I think of the victims and their loved ones,” he writes, thanking the emergency services for their efforts in the city. In November 2018, two buildings collapsed in another district of central Marseille. Eight people died and the incident led to major protests against the quality of the buildings.
